Pastor Allen preached about The Church yesterday and referenced 1 Peter 2:9. As we read it, it sparked a correlation to our Week 4 Scripture in Genesis 35:11 where God declares Himself as El Shaddai and prophesies to Jacob that “A nation and a company of nations shall come from you, and kings shall come from your own body.”
If your verse mapping took you to researching the origins of the words "nations" and "kings", you may have encountered synonyms such as: RACE and ROYAL. Also, thinking back to Week 3’s scripture in Exodus 34:9, we see that Moses asked the Lord to take the people for His inheritance (or possession).
Friends, here is a New Testament connection! Because of Jesus Christ, we are now adopted into the family of God Almighty. WE ARE:
...a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1Peter 2:9 ESV
