16: Our True Home / Actively Abide

Beholding...

As I write this, my daughter Lauren is in “isolation housing” at UCSD because one of her roommates tested positive for covid after Halloween. Not only is she far from home, she can’t even live in her dorm -- her home away from home; she has to spend two weeks living in an entirely different place. As you can imagine, she longs to be home. Lauren was not meant to live in “isolation housing.” When you take a look at the C.S. Lewis quote painted on page 211, can you relate to that feeling that we are not Home yet and were made for another world? Ephesians 2:19 (also artwork on page 64) tells us, "You are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God". As we journey through this world, continue beholding our God and our future home, our true Home.

Becoming...

In order to continue beholding our God and our true home, we cannot be passive about this. Abiding in Christ is a continual and active abiding. The Greek word for abide is meno, meaning to remain, to dwell, to stay and implies an active continuity and permanence. Fellow Beholders & Becomers, persevere and continue on after the close of this book. Every day is an opportunity to worship and behold our God. And the more we actively do this, the more we will become like Him. Thank you for joining this leg of our journey.

"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit." 2 Corinthians 3:18
